Christ Ahnsahnghong, is the cross really an idol?

As I mentioned in my previous post, most people see the cross as a sign of Christianity.  We all claim to follow the ten commandments but are we truly following them?

Exodus 20:4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

According to the 2nd Commandment we should not have nor make any idols in the form of anything in heaven, on earth or in water.  When we think about things in Heaven, on the earth and in the water, we think of God, Angels, Trees, Rocks, Fishes, Shells etc.  God pretty much mentioned everything, he basically said not to make idols in the form of anything.  God also said that we should not bow down to them and worship as well. Then we can see that when we have idols we are sinning against God and showing God HATE.  If we show God hate we can pretty much guarantee that we are not going to heaven.  God said that it is easy to show him love instead of hate by keeping his commandments.

Most of us usually jump to our own conclusions on what is an idol but if we think about it, God gave this commandment, then we need to see what is an idol in God’s opinion.

Leviticus 26:1 ” ‘Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the LORD your God.

An idol is a sacred image, scared stone and a carved stone that we find sacred.

As we can see, this is an image of the Virgin Mary and its made out of carved stone and it is a scared to the people bowing down before it.  According to God this is an idol, the virgin mary is an idol.  A lot of people have images of the virgin mary, some even have a statue of her on their lawn and they worship it and bow down before it.  God said not to do this and not to have this, why is everyone disobeying God? Everyone is following men’s traditions instead of God’s commandments.

What does God think about men’s tradition?

What else is an Idol?
